Owerri—GOVERNOR Rochas Okorocha of Imo State, has announced plans to establish three more plantations as part of industrialization policy and upgrade the Imo Polytechnic into university.

The governor said these are parts of efforts at creating the enabling ground for industrial revolution in the state that will gainfully employ youths and eradicate poverty among the people.

Okorocha spoke this during his campaign rally at Ohaji Egbema, noted that in the past three and half years, his government succeeded in regularizing many sensitive areas like education, infrastructure and security.

According to him, “in the next four years, I will ensure the massive development and stabilization of the State, provide factories, industries, and job opportunities until there are no more idle minds. I have crossed the bridge of poverty and by God’s grace every Imolite shall cross the bridge of poverty.”

The governor revealed that major roads in the local governments would be dualized to link other parts of the state making Imo a one-city state and urged the people to shun ethnicity and encourage partnership to attract the establishment of developmental projects in the councils.

The governor who presented candidates of the All Progressives Congress, APC, for the House of Assembly, House of Representatives and the Senate to the people said the party had credible candidates who would bring development to every part of the State and urged them to vote for APC.

Earlier, the Chairman of Traditional Rulers in the council, Eze Sylvester Okpuodu, while receiving the governor and his campaign team at his palace, said the people had resolved to vote massively for the re-election of Okorocha for extending the dividends of democracy to the council.

The royal father named some of the dividends to include erecting primary school storey buildings in every ward, new ultra-modern General Hospital, N500 million ISOPADEC youth empowerment fund, free education, tackling youth restiveness as well as restoring electricity supply to the area. “We have resolved to stand behind you with all we have and give you full support and all votes. Rochas we know,” he added.
