KADUNA—ORGANISED Labour has called on the Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC, to quickly resolve the issue of Permanent Voters’ Card PVC and other issues capable of undermining the electoral process across the country ahead of next month’s general election.

Speaking in Kaduna, a Vice President of Nigeria Labour Congress, NLC, and General Secretary, National Union of Textile, Garment and Tailoring Workers of Nigeria, NUTGTWN, Mr. Issa Aremu, insisted that all that the nation needed were the credibility of the electoral register, independence of INEC, the democratic behaviour of all the contestants.

At a briefing, he contended that there should be contest of ideas and policies not battle and conquest of contestants, saying, “I am personally proud to witness this historic democratic process. Having witnessed military dictatorships with its restrictions on liberty and freedom and violation of trade unions and workers rights, it is exciting to be part of the ongoing democratic transitions at Federal, states and legislative levels.”
