Police in Lagos State have arrested a 37-year-old robbery suspect, Kazeem, a self-acclaimed one-man robbery squad, who specialized in stealing vehicles with a master key in Lagos State and its environs.
Vanguard gathered that he was arrested at Oshodi by operatives of Special Anti-Robbery Squad, SARS, while attempting to dispose off a stolen Sienna to a car dealer identified as Alhaji.
According to reports, Kazeem, who is a trained panel beater, spent eight months in Kirikiri Prison, Lagos, last year for car snatching, before he was released.
He said: “My name is Kareem. I am a panel beater from Osun State. I lived in Oworosonki area before I was arrested. I went to prison because of my involvement in car snatching business. I was arrested last year January 14.
“I spent eight months in the prison before I was released after my brother facilitated my bail.
“I was in the village when one of my friends, Ayike, called me, saying he wanted me to help him sell a Sienna car. He told me that his mother bought it for him and that he has been using it at school.
“He could not provide any of the vehicle’s documents. He said when a buyer comes, he will provide the necessary document.
“I was with the Sienna for a month and 18 days looking for buyers before I was arrested after I contacted one Alhaji, a prospective buyer.
“It was one Ebuka in Ladipo that introduced into car snatching business. He made a master key for me”
He told me that they make car keys, which I could use to steal any vehicle.
“He made a master key for me for N12,000, which I use to steal vehicles. At night, I will walk through where cars are parked. I use the master key to open the car and then steal the car.”
