OWERRI—THE governorship candidate of All Progressives Grand Alliance, APGA, in Imo State, Captain Emmanuel Ihenacho, has decried the low standard of education in the state, despite the touted free education programme of the Governor Rochas Okorocha administration.

Ihenacho claimed that “under Governor Rochas Okorocha’s free education programme, the state now ranks 34th in Nigeria, in the result of the West African Examinations Council, WAEC”.

Ihenacho, who spoke when he addressed APGA loyalists in Owerri, also alleged that the free education was of very low quality that could hardly lead to gainful employment on graduation.

He accused Okorocha of personifying governance in the state, stressing that “It was now clear that the Governor came to rescue his siblings, family members, in-laws and close associates from poverty and not Imo people.

”The present Imo State governor lacks the training and capacity to industrialize the state. That is why the governor is busy building round-about, gates, inferior roads and infrastructures etc. Those things he is busy building do not require much intellectual work”, Ihenacho said.
