Five die, seven injured in Ogun multiple road crash

ABEOKUTA—Tragedy struck, yesterday, in Showo village, Obafemi-Owode Local government Area of Ogun State, when five persons, including a three-year- old- girl and her young mother, lost their lives while seven sustained serious injuries in a multiple road accident on the Abeokuta-siun-Sagamu Road.

Our correspondent, who witnessed the accident scene gathered that, the seven persons who sustained injuries included the driver of a security vehicle.

It was gathered that a staff of Lagos State Waste Management Authority lost his life.

The accident, which occurred around 5:30 p.m., drew a lot of sympathizers who stopped to give assistance to the injured victims, before the arrival of the officials of the Traffic Compliance and Enforcement Agency.

Our correspondent gathered that a black Nissan Almeria with number KSF 803 CX LAGOS with a lone young occupant was reportedly on top speed and veered off the road to the next lane for vehicles heading towards Sagamu and colluded with a passenger Mitsubishi car with number ÉPÉ 925D LAGOS.

It was gathered that those who sustained injuries were rushed to a state hospital at Ijaiye but were rejected due to the on-going strike by health workers.

They were later taken to a private hospital at Panseke, while the remains of those that lost their lives were abandoned at the scene of the crash at press time.
