ADO EKITI—NO fewer than 180 workers of Ekiti State House of Assembly who were said to have been employed irregularly by the immediate past administration in the state have had their appointment terminated by the management of the Assembly.
Some of the workers, who spoke under the condition of anonymity alleged that the factional speaker, Hon. Dele Olugbemi actually told them that they were not properly employed by the past administration.
The affected workers claimed that the new speaker, Hon. Dele Olugbemi was said to have announced their sack in a statement during the monthly prayer meeting to usher in the new year at the Assembly Complex, Ado Ekiti, on Monday.
They claimed to have been properly employed by the immediate past administration, appealing to the Government to reverse the action in the interest of peace.
Defending the action, Olugbemi said the measure became imperative to rid the system of irregular employment.
According to him, some of the affected workers were brought into the system illegally by ex-Governor Kayode Fayemi’s government.
He said they were illegally employed last year August and September by the then House of Assembly Service Commission, chaired by Chief George Ojo, accusing some members of the All Progressives Congress, APC, of perpetrating the act.
