Bayelsa inaugurates c’ttee on power

By Samuel Oyadongha

Yenagoa—Bayelsa State Government has inaugurated the Bayelsa State Power Development Standing Committee to boost electricity supply in the state.

Vanguard gathered that 18 years after its creation, most parts of the state, especially communities in the coastal enclaves, are yet to be connected to the national grid with most of the natives relying on generating plants.

The Imiringi Gas Turbine, which hitherto supplied some communities in Ogbia Local Government Area in the East senatorial district and part of Southern Ijaw and Yenagoa Local Government Areas in the Central senatorial district, have since collapsed.
