To avert crisis, the Academic Staff Union of University, ASUU, Lagos State University, LASU, chapter, has warned students and people against being used by some external forces to cause crisis and disrupt academic calendar of the institution.
Ayodele Asokere, chairman of ASUU-LASU caretaker committee, gave the warning, yesterday, following discovery of Short Message Service, SMS, being circulated to foment trouble in the school over spurious allegations.
Asokere, who affirmed that there was currently no crisis in LASU, urged students and parents to stand against plans to disrupt the school academic calendar, as nobody stood to gain anything from destabilising the system.
He, therefore, dissociated the union from an alleged plan by suspended former executives of ASUU in the school to stage a protest.
He said: “This became necessary because text messages sent to people’s phones about the strike were baseless, and should be ignored.”
