Akure—GOVERNOR Olusegun Mimiko of Ondo State has asked Nigerians to work ceaselessly for the peace of the land with the purpose of Christ’s birth as an inspiration.

In his Christmas message signed by Eni Akinsola, his Chief Press Secretary, Mimiko said it is now more than ever before that Nigerians have to work together as citizens for peace in the land.

The governor said the country’s march towards greatness, though slowed down by its security challenges, is steady, adding that Nigeria’s movement to greatness will be faster if Nigerians show greater commitments to its peace.

Mimiko said: “We are moving forward as a country in spite of our challenges, yet our movements could be faster and our pace steadier if we champion the cause of peace and reconciliation as exemplified by the birth of Christ now being globally celebrated in Christmas day.”,

He noted that either as Christians, Moslems or men and women of other faiths, the pursuit of peace is and should be a common goal.

Dr. Mimiko said celebrations should therefore be sober and be an opportunity for introspective reflections on the future of the country.”
