As Okoro says no division in Delta PDP
By Oboh Kenneth
Former Delta State Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, Chairman, Chief Emmanuel Ogidi, has said no matter what politicians do or say, the electorate will make their choice because they are now wiser and more educated.
Speaking to journalists in his Warri residence, Ogidi said instead of defecting from one party to another, politicians should enlighten voters and appeal to their conscience.
On Delta State PDP governorship primaries, the party chieftain said as soon as a candidate emerged, the party and other aspirants closed rank.
Speaking in the same vein, Mr. Emmanuel Okoro, Chief Adviser on Legislative Matters to Governor Emmanuel Uduaghan, said there was no division in Delta PDP.
Asked why it seems like Uduaghan’s administration was pursuing many projects across the state in its twilight, Okoro, the pioneer Speaker of Delta State House of Assembly, said the first tenure was greatly handicapped by many court cases.
On presidential election
On the 2015 presidential election, Ogidi said: “It is going to be very interesting, but easy for us because PDP has no opposition.
“In All Progressives Congress, APC, you have a pairing of strange personalities. But President Goodluck Jonathan and Vice President Namadi Sambo have been together for long and the electorate know them. Two cannot work together except they agree.”
He said cases of violence and criminal activities were attributable to impatience and some overzealous elements, especially those that refused to realize that power comes from God.
Ogidi said: “These things also manifest in our daily lives. An example is breaking simple traffic rules. Thank God graduates and true Christians are coming into politics.
“When they enlighten their followers and the electorate, things will improve. It might take time, but politicians must respect God’s grace.”
