•Emmanuel addressing supporters last Tuesday

ABUJA—Despite the vacation of the court injunction barring the submission of Emmanuel Udom’s name as authentic governorship candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP in Akwa Ibom last Friday, trouble is still far from over for him and his political godfather, Governor Godswill Akpabio.
Like before, the latest move to replace him as the governorship candidate of the state has been sealed by the aggrieved 22 aspirants in the state, who felt totally “schemed out” in the December 8, 2014 PDP primaries in the state.
The aspirants have vowed to appeal the vacation of the injunction today in court.
The decision of the aspirants stemmed from a meeting that was called at the instance of Governor Akpabio in Abuja, which later ended in fiasco in the early hours of Saturday.
The meeting, Vanguard gathered, was held to appease the aggrieved aspirants and seek their support and acceptance of Udom but the meeting became a shouting bout between Akpabio and a former Attorney-General of the state, Chief Asam Asam, SAN, who was also an aspirant.
It was also gathered that the meeting would have held at the Governor’s Lodge in Asokoro or a designated hotel being the venue Akpabio had chosen but the aspirants turned down the choice and opted for their secretariat on Ontario Street in Maitama.
It was gathered that shortly after they started the meeting, a shouting match ensued between Akpabio and Asam.
A source, who attended the meeting and craved anonymity told Vanguard that it took the intervention of the other aspirants present to calm frayed nerves.
At that juncture, the source added, the group resorted to singing Christian songs followed by prayers to further restore peace amongst them.
Afterwards, the governor pleaded with them to accept Emmanuel Udom as the governorship candidate of the PDP in the state but his position was rejected by the group.
Seeing that the people were poised for a showdown, Akpabio called on Udom, who was also present, to plead with them.
It was learned that he likened his case to that of Jesus Christ, who was initially rejected by his people but later turned out to become the saviour.
But unfortunately, the allusion to Jesus, reportedly infuriated the house which roundly castigated Udom for his lack of humility.
They, however, promised to work for the reelection of President Goodluck Jonathan, but vowed to do everything within their power to stop Udom.
