Three governorship aspirants in Delta State on the platform of Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, have described as false and misleading, reports that they lost grounds in the primaries for the state House of Assembly held on November 29.

Mr. Ndudi Elumelu, Mr. Victor Ochei and Prof. Sylvster Monye, said the report that they failed to deliver their candidates was false and designed to show that they were not in control of political affairs in their Aniocha North constituency.

In his reaction to the report that he lost election in his backyard, Elumelu, said he had no particular preferred candidate in the primaries for the state House of Assembly because an attempt was made in certain quarters to push through an unpopular aspirant to represent Aniocha North.

He said that he decided to remain neutral rather than allow the emergence of an unpopular aspirant.

Mr. Zenith Idabor came tops ahead of Mr. O. Okocha and Mr. Emeka Nwaobi in the primaries.

Mr Ochei and Prof. Monye also told Vanguard that they held a neutral position when pressure was brought on them to use their structures to produce aspirants, whom the people had vowed to stop from becoming their representatives.

Monye said the three governorship aspirants resolved to give the contestants in the legislative election free hand in the field rather than support someone whom the people would reject. “That is the true situation of what happened,” he said.
