SURE-P: GIS trains graduates in Ibadan

IBADAN—The internship training organised by the Graduate Internship Scheme, GIS, under the Subsidy Reinvestment and Empowerment Programme, SURE-P, of the Federal Ministry of Finance, put together for Oyo State beneficiaries will round up today, in Ibadan.

The training, run in collaboration with Axiom Learning Solutions Limited, is a three-day mentoring programme intended by the GIS to make otherwise unemployable graduate to fit into the employment sector. The government of the federation is responsible for training cost and N30,000 monthly salary paid to each intern for the one year internship period.

In his speech delivered by GIS national media officer, Mr. Tochukwu Ikezue, during the opening session of the training programme, on Monday, Director of Graduate Internship Scheme, Mr. Peter Pakpa said: “This administration recognises the private sector as the major employer of labour, but the sector requuires certain minimum skills from graduates in order to employ them.”
