Stop pulling down our billboards, Enugu APC chair tells PDP

By Austin Ogwuda

All Progressive Congress, APC, in Enugu State, has raised alarm over alleged harassment of their members and destruction of billboards belonging to the party’s governorship aspirant.

State Chairman of APC, Mr. Ben Nwoye, at a briefing, yesterday, in Enugu, said “on the 4th of this month, we held peaceful primaries whereby Okey Ezea emerged as our governorship candidate. Before now, PDP claimed that Ifeanyi Ugwuanyi, known as Gburugburu was the only candidate contesting governorship in the state.

Immediately Ezea emerged, we started our campaign and publicity by mounting billboards. Unfortunately, evil doers who don’t want democracy in Enugu since 1999 re-assembled and destroyed the billboards of our governorship candidate in Nsukka and Obolo-Afor and that of our House of Representatives candidate in Nsukka-Igbo Eze South federal constituency.

“They have been threatening our members, who have been angry, threatening to retaliate but we have been telling them to remain calm. We do not want a return to the dark days in Enugu State. We are urging the President not to turn Enugu to Rivers where every image of APC has become a target for attack by PDP.

“We know that supporters of Gburugburu destroyed our billboards. Is it because I said his ‘thank you’ message to Enugu people is illegal? Has Enugu PDP voted for him? He is not even a candidate and he is thanking Enugu people,” he added
