The Inspector-General of Police, Mr. Suleiman Abba has given approval for the consideration of Inspectors and rank and file policemen with university degrees and others for elevation.
The approval, according to a statement signed by the Force spokesman, Emmanuel Ojukwu, was in line with the IGP’s resolve to boost the moral of Police workforce.
The circular to this effect was reportedly issued Monday, December 15, 2014. Consequently, all Police commands and formations across the country have been directed to compile and forward names of all serving Inspectors and Rank and File with higher certificates such as University degrees , Higher National Diploma HND, Ordinary National Diploma OND and National Certificate of Education NCE for necessary processing.
When news of the approval filtered into the Lagos State Police Command, yesterday, those affected expressed joy and optimism that the development would to a large extent ameliorate their financial situations.
Some of them, however, wore expressionless faces, as they were not sure how soon the proclamation would start yielding the necessary result.
