Chairman, National Convention Committee of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Dr Kayode Fayemi has described the national convention of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) as a mere coronation.
Dr Fayemi, who lampooned the PDP said “this is not a coronation. What you are witnessing in Abuja is coronation. We have taken the pain to give everyone the opportunity to contest to be the party standard bearer. Five persons have screened and they have been found qualified to rule the country if given the opportunity by our delegates at this primary and next year’s presidential election.”
Speaking further, he said “the process here is as important as the eventual product. The ‘who’ is what everyone is after. That is not so important to us but how we arrived at the who is the most important. And that was why we have put so many efforts into it. This is to ensure that we produce a democratically elected presidential candidate that will not be open to ant doubt. This will be in full glare of the delegates and the public.”
