NUJ, RATTAWU begin warning strike

By Kelechi Azubuike

Nigeria Union of Journalists, NUJ, and Radio Television and Theatre Arts Workers Union, RATTAWU, yesterday, began a three-day warning strike to press home their demands including a media salary structure, and an enabling law to make broadcast organisations direct beneficiaries of radio and T.V licence rates being collected by local governments.

Other demands are the non implementation of Weigh-in for workers in some state owned broadcast stations, correction of anomalies in the calculation of pensions which led to the short payment of pensioners in the broadcast sector as well as postponement of the date for digitization of the broadcast media in the country because of the absence of an enabling law to guide the process.
