MAKURDI—Former Minister of State, Ministry of Industry, Trade and Investments, and All Progressives Congress, APC, governorship candidate in Benue State, Dr. Samuel Ortom has debunked the rumours making the rounds in the state and on social media that he was arrested by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC.
In a statement yesterday in Makurdi, the state capital, his Media Adviser, Mr. Tahav Agezua, Ortom described the rumours as “false, malicious, mischievous, and a campaign of calumny.”
The statement read in part, “members of the public may recall that I had earlier sent out an alert about the plans of detractors to smear the good name of the former Minister…
“The current fake report in one in a series but I assure supporters and well wishers that they will all fail to achieve their objective. Dr. Ortom has not been arrested by the EFCC or any agency.
He is undergoing documentation in Abuja as APC Benue State governorship candidate and will return soon to the state to resume campaigns in earnest.
“The former Minister has served without stain or blemish whether as council chairman, party administrator at the state and national levels, Minister and captain of industry.
“Dr Ortom has assured that he has never been incriminated or found wanting in both his private and public careers stressing that his conscience was clear and that he was moving about freely without molestation.”
