Man arraigned for allegedly beating Inspector

BENIN—A 20-year-old man, Mamode Samson, has been arraigned before an Egor Magistrate’s Court for assaulting one Monday Okungbowa, a Police Inspector attached to Ogida Police Station, Benin, Edo State.

He was also accused of assaulting three siblings, Jennifer Okunrobo, Uyiosa Okunrobo and Eghosa Okunrobo on December 20.

The accused, however, pleaded not guilty to the three-count charge.

Mamode was accused of hitting the police inspector with his fists and tearing his police uniform.

Trial Magistrate, Taiye Omoruyi, granted the accused bail in the sum of N200,000 and a surety in like sum, who must be resident within the court’s jurisdiction.

The case was adjourned to January 7, 2015.
