WARRI—NIGERIANS have been charged to see the good things so far achieved for the country by Chief Government Ekpemukpolo, alias Tompolo, and stop the damaging agitations against him.

An Ijaw youth leader from Ogbe-Ijoh community, Warri South-West Local Government Area, Delta State, Deacon Arex Akemotubo, who addressed newsmen in Warri, noted that it was not true that Tomplolo had nominated some persons in the state to be Senator Ifeanyi Okowa’s running mate in the coming government election in the state.

He said that Tompolo has come a long way in the struggle to free the Ijaw nation from the oppressive system that held them captive for many years, while their oil and gas rich land accounted for the huge federal revenue used in running Nigeria.

Akemotubo said that Tompolo, as a Nigerian and leader of his people, has the inalienable right to nominate any qualified person from any part of the state or country to any position of responsibility, maintaining that Tompolo, like his nominees, were tax payers like other Nigerians.

He said: “The fact that his younger brother is Chairman of a council and another a Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, House of Representatives flag-bearer did not preclude him from making further nominations to other positions. Tompolo only nominates while those in authority are at liberty to make appointment as deemed appropriate.”

He said that Tompolo’s pipelines surveillance efforts have led to a drastic reduction in oil theft in the region, thus resulting in greater income to the federation account, adding that the achievement was no mean feat in the region in the face of threats from powerful and interested illegal oil bunkering barons.
