Gun manufacturer nabbed in Enugu

Enugu—MEN of Enugu State Police Command have arrested an alleged gun manufacturer in the state (names withheld), who is said to specialize in selling arms to hoodlums operating within and outside the state.

State Commissioner of Police, Mr. Abubakar Mohammed, said the arrest was made possible following what he described as “the high level of community relations and partnership between the command and the members of the public, which has cemented the synergy of sharing information between the command and the public as well as other sister security agencies.”

He assured the public that the command had embarked on several proactive measures aimed at achieving a crime-free Yuletide and 2015 general elections.

The police boss warned criminals to change their ways and embrace meaningful ventures “as anyone caught in any unlawful act will be made to face the music according to the law.”

The suspected arms manufacturer was arrested by operatives of the Police Area Command, Oji River, Enugu State Command.

When his hideout was raided, which was more of a workshop located inside the bush, three double-barrelled guns, saw for cutting irons, one hand drill, four locally-made guns, among other tools, were recovered.
