IBADAN—The Teslim Folarin 2015 Gubernatorial Organisation, has rejected the re-deployment of Mr. Rufus Akeju as the Resident Electoral Commissioner for Oyo State.

The organisation said Mr. Akeju’s choice for Oyo State is totally unacceptable, going by his antecedents, which it said is well known.

Akeju, it went on, was known to be a former aide to Asiwaju Bola Tinubu and a card-carrying member of the defunct Action Congress of Nigeria, ACN, adding that it was on the basis of this and many other reasons that it rejected his re-deployment to the state.

In a press statement by its Director General, Hon. Asimiyu Alarape in Ibadan, yesterday, it declared that Akeju’s re-deployment to Oyo State by the Prof. Attahiru Jega-led Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC, was an error, adding “it must be corrected immediately to avoid a backlash.”

Aregbesola charges INEC

Meantime, the Osun State governor, Ogbeni Rauf Aregbesola has called on the Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC, to use the opportunity of the coming 2015 elections to win the confidence of Nigerians by conducting a free, fair and credible general election.

The governor admonished the electoral umpire not to be biased and fall short of the expectations of the teeming masses of the country who are looking forward to an election where the majority of votes will count.
