BENIN—AHEAD of the 2015 general elections, the Federal Government, yesterday, said that the nation’s electoral process was “nearing perfection,” even as it expressed optimism that the Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC, would consolidate on the 2011 achievements in next year’s polls.
Special Assistant to the President on Student Affairs, Mr Jude Imagwe, who spoke in Benin City, Edo State, where he bagged the Edo State council of Nigeria Union of Journalists, NUJ, award for youth development and empowerment, expressed dismay over what he described as inciting statements by political and religious leaders, adding that “these utterances are capable of destroying the nation’s unity.
“These days, after declaration of election results, only few losers would want to go to court because the electoral process is almost nearing perfection. And I think we will get there.”
