Edo PDP primaries: West-Idahosa alleges threat to life

By Gabriel Enogholase

BENIN—A Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, senatorial aspirant, Mr. Ehiogie West-Idahosa, who recently lost the Edo South senatorial seat primaries to Mr. Matthew Urhoghide, has alleged threat to his life, three weeks after the primaries.

He said in a letter to the state Chairman of the party, Chief Dan Orbih, yesterday in Benin, that post mortem report on his late nephew, Perebowei Ogei, showed that he died from wounds inflicted on him with battle axes, jack knife among other weapons.

However, Orbih denied that West-Idahosa was left alone in his moment of grief, pointing out that the party issued a strongly worded statement condemning the killing of Orbih’s nephew.

He added that he led a team of PDP leaders to the residence of West-Idahosa to sympathise with him.

“I led a PDP team to the residence of West-Idahosa on the day of the attack and it was shown on television. We also condemned the killing in strong terms while charging the police to find the perpetrators of the heinous crime,” Orbih said.
