Ebonyi PDP Senatorial primaries: Ex-Governor Sam Egwu, 2 others win

ABAKALIKI – THE former Governor of Ebonyi State, Dr. Sam Egwu weekend emerged winner of Ebonyi North Senatorial District primary election conducted by the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP across the state.

He defeated the current senator representing the zone, Senator Chris Nwankwo and former Minister of Power, Hon. Goddy Ogbaga to emerge PDP candidate for the senatorial zone in the 2015 general election.

The National Assembly primaries was supervised by a-4 man National Assembly Electoral Panel sent by the National Working Committee, NWC of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP.

Other winners include: the former State PDP Chairman, Chief Obinna Ogba who defeated Governor Martin Elechi of Ebonyi State to emerge the candidate for Ebonyi Central zone while Senator Sonni Ogbuoji defeated other aspirants including Prof. Chigozie Ogbu who did show up during the election to emerge PDP candidate for Ebonyi South senatorial of the State.

The election which took place simultaneously across the state was adjudged free, fair and credible as the police and other security agencies provided adequate security for the election.

The members of the National Assembly Electoral Panel for the conduct of the primaries in the state include: the Chairman, Prof Oboh Silvanus Hon. Otunba Wale Ogunride, Chief Uche Nsofor and Hajiya Hadiza Adada.

In a remark, the former Governor of the State thanked the PDP for a successful conduct of the election and promised to represent the zone adequately if he wins at 2015 general election
