Court restrains Uniben from ejecting lecturer

The National Industrial Court sitting in Akure, Ondo State, has restrained the University of Benin, UNIBEN, from ejecting from its senior staff quarters , a lecturer in the Department of Chemistry, Dr. Emmanuel Irabor.

Trial judge, Justice A. Ubaka, in his ruling in the suit by Irabor, restrained the university from ejecting the said don pending the hearing of a motion on notice for interlocutory injunction in the case.

The court said: “The defendant in this suit, the University of Benin, their servants, agent, privies and assigns, are hereby restrained from ejecting the claimant and members of his family from his official residence at the Senior Staff Quarters B85 Ugbowo Campus, University of Benin, Benin City, pending the hearing and determination of the motion on notice for interlocutory injunction in this case.”

It will be recalled that the university had, in a memorandum dated October 29, by Secretary, Staff Housing Committee, Mrs. Florence Oronsaye directed Irabor to vacate his official quarters, on or before November 4, 2014.
