IBADAN—Members of the Oyo State Butchers Association in Ibadan North Local Government Area have resisted the order of the Oyo State Government to relocate to the newly constructed abattoir at Akinyele Local Government, saying that the status quo should remain.
The chairman of butchers association in Ibadan North Local Government, Alhaji Ganiyu Olobo while speaking with journalists at the weekend on the planned action of the state government to relocate them to the newly constructed abattoir at Amosun Village in Akinyele Local Government stated that there are series of clashes between Yoruba and the Hausa butchers which he said, could disrupt the peaceful co-existence among the two communities in the state.
Similarly, Alhaji Olobo stated that the distance to the main town and non- completion of some basic infrastructure in the abattoir are some of the reasons for their resistance to the order.
