A Federal High Court sitting in Lagos has ordered the remand at the Ikoyi Prisons, Lagos, of four men, charged with vandalism and unlawful dealing in petroleum products.

The accused are: Andrew Ishola, 35, Sunkanmi Aro, 27, Utuedor Michael, 27, and Oladele Agbo, 35.

They are standing trial on a three-count charge of conspiracy, vandalism and unlawful dealing in petroleum products.

They, however, pleaded not guilty to the charge.

Following a bail application moved and adopted on behalf of the accused by their counsel, Mr. McAnthony Akhariale, trial judge, Justice Mohammed Yunusa, admitted the accused to bail in the sum of N1 million each, with two sureties each in like sum.

The judge, however, ordered their remand in custody pending the fulfillment of their bail conditions granted by the court.

He adjourned the case to March 31, 2015 for trial.

Earlier, the prosecutor, Mr. Raymond Akhane, told the court that the accused committed the offence sometime in November.

He said they were apprehended by a team of policemen at the Majidun area of Ikorodu in Lagos, on a tip off.

According to the prosecutor, the accused allegedly tampered with the free flow of refined petroleum products through an oil pipeline in the locality, and engaged in illegal sale of the products.

The offence is said to contravene the provisions of sections 3(1), 5, and 7 of the Miscellaneous Offence Act, 2004.
