Following the declaration by the Lagos State government that the collapsed Synagogue Church of All Nations, SCOAN, building had no approval, General Overseer of Holy Ghost Christian Centre, Amos Fenwa, has frowned at the development calling on appropriate authorities to take a stand on the issue after thorough investigations.
The cleric who blamed the nation for not according due regard to human lives said it’s high time Nigeria borrowed a leaf from other countries of the world who do not only regard human lives but those of animals.
Addressing journalists in Lagos, to announce the annual Night of Mercy, taking place at the New Gymnasium, National Stadium, Surulere, on November 14, Fenwa said every public building must be certified by relevant government agency before being put into use to avert disaster of any sort.
He said the programme taking place by 9.00 p.m, was designed to pray for the nation especially now that the general elections are approaching as well as presenting the gospel as the final solution to various needs in the society.
The cleric also said that religious leaders and other developers should save lives first before any other thing, noting that the issue of collapsed buildings had become a common feature but the SCOAN’s case was gaining undue popularity because involved a religious organisation.
“I remember when we were constructing our building and we took precautions where necessary, there were periods some building professionals from Alausa came to inspect it and at a time, they stopped the building in order to see all things being done well because human life is sacred,” he noted.
