NFF pledges support for APFON

The Nigeria Football Federation has promised to strengthen and empower the Association of Professional Footballers of Nigeria in the coming years.

Speaking at the association’s 2014 Annual General Assembly in Lagos yesterday, President of the Nigeria Football Federation, Amaju Pinnick who was represented by First Vice President Seyi Akinwumi told the gathering that the first step taken by the football house to ensure APFON functioned effectively was the constitution of the Players’ Statute Committee, which the Apfon secretary, Austin Popo is a member.

He however demanded the union must be one indivisible entity. “We demand unity in the players’ union because our peculiar situation demands that there must be unity and as far as the NFF is concerned, we will do everything to ensure we strengthen you and ensure things work.”
