THE Fellowship of Christian Students,FCS, has urged Nigerians to shun money bags and elect God-fearing politicians in the forthcoming general elections.

The National Chairman of FCS, Prof. Istifanus Dafwang also called on Nigerians to change their attitude towards elections in the country.

Dafwang, who is also the Resident Electoral Commissioner, representing Gombe State in the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) charged them to fully participate in the process of choosing their leaders, quoting the scripture “when the righteous rules, people rejoice.”

He was speaking at the sideline of the National Open House 2014 tagged: ‘Contending for the Faith’, organized by the Fellowship of Christian Students in Abuja, stressing that people have a responsibility to ensure that the forthcoming general elections brings the desired results, by participating fully to elect credible people.

According to the Gombe REC the Fellowship was complementing INEC’s voters education programme to ensure full participation of every eligible voter in the election, pledging to reach out to over one million youths before 2015 general elections.

“Part of our goal in FCS is to change people’s attitude towards election. Electoral process begins with voters’ registration and in all the activities, we will continue to tell people including politicians that they have obligations and rights.

“Whenever and wherever I have opportunity to talk to people, as INEC Electoral Commissioner, I do tell them things they (people) need to do; ‘you need to pray, register during voters’ registration, vote your choice, monitor your vote, say no to violence and rigging,” he warned.
