Body of Senior Advocates of Nigeria, BOSAN, has described the Ekiti incident, in which a judge was allegedly molested, as an assault on the temple of justice.

According to the statement: “the Body of Senior Advocates of Nigeria considered the recent press reports of the events that took place in Ado-Ekiti, Ekiti State involving a physical assault upon a serving judge of the Ekiti State High Court within the High Court premises in Ado-Ekiti and the vandalisation and destruction of the Court’s properties, equipment and records by yet unidentified persons.
“The Body of Senior Advocates noted with dismay that the State Executive arm of government, which has control of law enforcement and the responsibility to provide protection to the other arms of government in the discharge of their constitutional duties has not made any official pronouncement concerning this incident.
“The Body is of the view that if this is not done, members of the judiciary, which is the third and arguably one of the most important arm of government would be entitled to believe that they can no longer perform their constitutional duties without fear or favour, thus giving free reign to the rule of force and anarchy rather than the rule of law.
The Body of Senior Advocates resolved to call on the Executive arm of government to take every possible step within its powers to ensure that the perpetrators of this dastardly and sacrilegious act are dealt with to serve as a deterrent to others.”
