Sapele—The Urhobo Progress Union, UPU, has denied media report that it had endorsed a former member of the House of Representatives to represent Delta Central senatorial district in 2015.

Acting President General of UPU, Chief Joseph Omene, said “That report is misleading. Neither I nor UPU had endorsed any aspirant for that position. The reporter ought to report correctly what he heard from me. Every qualified Urhobo person can aspire to the position of a Senator. I am a father to all of them and when they come here for consultation, I pray for them and wish them well. I have not and UPU has not endorsed anyone for that position. It is your acceptability at the poll that determines if you can become a Senator in Urhobo land.”

Chief Edwin Clark, on his part, said: “That report is not correct. I can only pray for all who come to consult me on that matter. I will always wish them well at the field where they must test their acceptability to the people. I urge the media to do proper and correct reportage”
