Ado Ekiti—Governor Rotimi Amaechi of Rivers State has described the Transformation Agenda of President Goodluck Jonathan as a sham, saying poverty still pervades the society.

Speaking while commissioning the ultra-modern Pharmacology/Biochemistry building of the Medical School in Ekiti State University in Ado Ekiti, the governor charged President Goodluck Jonathan to remodel the programme with a view to meeting the hopes and aspirations of average Nigerians.

Amaechi, who carpeted members of the Transformation Ambassadors of Nigeria, TAN, promoters of the Federal Government-driven Transformation Agenda, stated that he never expected anything outstanding from them.

He said: “This transformation agenda has not in any way reflected in the lives of Nigerians. There is poverty and wanton neglect everywhere you go. So what are we now transforming?

“Some of the members of TAN are those that benefited from the subsidy fund and who ought to be prosecuted and jailed. I am sure that all Progressives Congress, APC, will bring to bear more pragmatic agenda that would meet Nigerians’ yearnings.”

The governor lauded the level of development in Ekiti State university, saying it had justified the investment of the state government on the educational sector.
Governor Kayode Fayemi, who noted that some people, including himself, had in the past described the university as a glorified secondary school, said the trend had taken a dramatic turn through well envisioned steps taken by his government and management of the institution.
