Group launches ICT lab in Oyo

Access Drive in partnership with the Office of the Senior Special Assistant to the President on Millennium Development Goals (MDGs) has established Community Information Technology Center Optimization in Awe High School, Awe, Oyo state. This, according to the project organizers is a key project in view of the importance of ICT Education towards achieving the Vision20:2020.

The optimization plan seeks to achieve among other objectives, the identification of Community and School ICT Centre need, establishment of ICT Clubs in Schools, partnership with Technology Companies and other stakeholders, coordinating Community focused Projects amongst ICT Clubs and development of relevant Educational Contents with focus on using the centers to accelerate Educational excellence.

In her speech, the Senior Special Assistant to the President on MDGs represented by Mrs. Lola Olaopa (Deputy Director in charge of the Project), stressed that the MDGs vision is to ensure that students in the rural areas are well groomed and able to compete globally. She commended the efforts of the ICT laboratory project managers, Mr. Tayo Olosunde the Principal partner of E-green and Mr. Adeniyi Oluokun Founder, AccessDrive, for their relentless zests which saw the project to completion. She further emphasized the need for the community to take ownership of the project and work with other stakeholders to ensure optimal utilization and protection of the center. She reiterated the commitment of her office to provide adequate security for the ICT laboratory for two years.

The Project commissioning was graced by the paramount ruler of Awe, chieftains of the community, the youth associations and members of the Press. The National Youth Service Corps Members were also on ground to provide the required administrative, education and management for the center.
