Enugu—A former Enugu State Secretary of Nigeria Labour Congress, NLC and university don, Dr. Ifeanyi Asogwa, has declared for the governorship race in Enugu State on the platform of All Progressives Congress, APC, and promised to transform the economy of the state like the Asian Tigers.

Addressing newsmen in Enugu, Asogwa said he had a clear vision on how to transform the state, lamenting that the bane of the state was lack of good governance, saying“My dissertation is in understanding the dynamics of developing societies.

” I have followed developmental trends in the world, in the advanced countries, in emerging economies and I have an idea of how these economies have grown like the Asian Tigers. For instance in 1967, the economy of Eastern Nigeria was the fastest growing economy in the world but today where are we if you check the development index?

“From the point of academia, I have taught in the university and I have been able to interact with people from all places, all cultures and I have an idea that human relationship is actually what derives the society and your ability to interact with people will help to very large extent. I see myself intrinsically as a democrat in the sense that I like a fair society, I want the society to be good, to be run well, a good for the common man.”
