Yenagoa—Ex-militants in the Niger Delta under the Second Phase Amnesty have  expressed their readiness to sacrifice three months of their allowances and set aside N10.5 million for the purchase of the expression of interest form for Governor Seriake Dickson of Bayelsa State, to contest for a second term in office during the 2016 governorship poll in the state.

According to the ex-militant youths, drawn from the eight local government areas of the state, though their monthly allowances amount to N65,000, the fund raised by the 6,166 ex-militants under the second phase programme will procure expression of interest form for the governor and raise campaign posters for President Goodluck Jonathan ahead of the 2015 presidential election.

The ex-militants, who met yesterday in Yenagoa, under the leadership of the group’s Chairman, Mr Stephen Ebisintei, said the decision to forego their three monthly allowances towards the Presidential campaign of President Jonathan in 2015 and  Governor Dickson in 2016 was due to the  noticeable infrastructural development and sound economic policy at the state and the federal levels.

They described Jonathan and Dickson as catalysts, who have accomplished unprecedented feat and as such deserved a second term in office.

“We have unanimously agreed to contribute our three months token (allowance) to support our president and leader, Jonathan election as well as buy the expression of interest form for Governor Dickson for the 2016 guber election in Bayelsa State.”
