CALABAR—Governor Liyel Imoke of Cross River State has withdrawn the certificate of the Clan/Village Head of Adim community, Biase Local Government Area of the state, Chief Otu Agriga, for alleged misconduct.

Special Adviser to the Governor on Chieftaincy Affairs, Mr. John Eyikwaje, who disclosed this at an emergency meeting with traditional rulers in Biase held at the council headquarters, said this was to serve as deterrent to other erring chiefs in other communities in the state, who believed that they were above the laws.

The Special Adviser, who was represented by Mr. Gabriel Kogoko, a Director in the Department, told the traditional ruler that he (Igriga) was served his letter of removal in February for the purpose of engendering peace and security within Adim and its neighbouring communities.

A statement by Eyikwaje said the “crimes and other robbery attacks within Adim has been reduced to zero level, as the new leadership, police and other law enforcement agents now carry out their function without fear of molestation.”
