Sen. Joy Emodi

UMUAHIA—THE people of Anambra North Senatorial District yesterday stepped up pressure on Senator Joy Emodi to re-contest the senatorial election under the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP.
They claimed there had been “serious representative vacuum” for the zone.
According to the people, the area lacks effective representation since Senator Emodi’s untimely exit through court orders about four years ago.
Consequently, some of the people, operating under the League of Anambra North Democrats, LAND, pressure groups and traditional rulers, lamented that “the zone has suffered ineffective representation; there has been a huge vacuum since Senator Emodi’s exit, courtesy of a Court Order.”
Speaking through LAND’s coordinator, Mr. Johnson Obiekezie, the people said “it is obvious that there is a vacuum even though there is somebody there supposedly representing us. We are not feeling the impact of representation. How many times have you heard the voice of the zone on the floor of the Senate in the last three years? The zone is where you have very high elites and it deserves effective representation, by an effective, up and doing Senator.”
“When Senator Joy Emodi was there the district was reckoned on any major issues being debated on the floor of the Senate with lucid and useful contributions.
