2015: Why we support Obuh for Delta gov – GBM

By Caleb Ayansina
ABUJA—Apro-democracy group, Goodluck Believers Movement, GBM, yesterday, insisted that it was the turn of the people of Delta North senatorial district, to produce the governor of Delta State, as they had been marginalised since the creation of the state.

The group said it had thrown its support behind Chief Anthony Obuh, who hails from Anioma area of Delta North senatorial district, for governor in the spirit of fairness and justice.

National President of the group, Mr. Engema Jumbo, while speaking to newsmen in Abuja, maintained that the Urhobo and other senatorial districts had sufficiently had their shares.

Jumbo, who named past governors who had ruled the state since its creation in 1991 from the administration of Chief Felix Ibru to that of Chief James Ibori, (both from Delta South), and the incumbent governor, Dr. Emmanuel Uduaghan (Delta Central), noted that people of Delta North were also part of the state, and they also had competent people that could move the state forward.

He said: “After wide consultation with major political stakeholders in Delta State, as well as our members across the six states in the Niger Delta region, we have decided to throw our weight behind Chief Obuh to ensure he gets the ticket of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP and eventually win the 2015 governorship election.”

Speaking on the Obuh’s competence, Jumbo said as “a retired permanent secretary in the Delta Civil Service, we have no doubt that Chief Obuh will make a good governor and sustain the development strides of Ibori and Uduaghan.  The other parts of the state should support the Anioma to produce Chief Anthony Chuks Obuh as the next governor of the state in the spirit of fairness and justice. Even President Goodluck Jonathan is a beneficiary of zoning, so the case of Delta State can’t be different.”
