2015: Orubebe joins Delta gov race

By Chris Ochayi
ABUJA—FORMER Minister of Niger Delta Affairs, Elder Godsday Peter Orubebe, yesterday collected the expression of interest and nomination form to run for governorship position in Delta State, declaring that he was the most qualified and experienced man to succeed Governor Emmanuel Uduaghan in May 29, 2015.

Orubebe, who spoke at the national swecretariat of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, after picking the form, said: “God has deposited a lot of knowledge in me and that is what I want to deposit in Delta State.”

According to him, “the advantages I have over other contestants are that I am a grassroot politician and I am an experienced man. I’m a man with experience and experience is something you cannot buy. I am a born politician.”

The erstwhile councillor and local government chairman in the state immediately took the form to the Living Faith Church, located at Jahi in the Federal Capital Territory, FCT, for “one hour with the Lord” where he praised and thanked God.

At the church service, he said the essence was to commit the new journey unto God who had given him the backing.

Quoting the from the book of Psalms 22 verse 27in the Holy Bible, Orubebe said, “ I cannot go to another place than here and thank my father for another journey.

Orubebe told his supporters who accompanied him to the Church that his coming into politics was not by accident as God told him back in 1987 that his place was in politics.

The former minister who was then working in a private firm as export manager, said he resigned from his work to follow the divine direction and since 1990 he had never failed in all his endeavours  in politics.

On his advantages over other contestants, he said “I am a born politician. I started as a Councillor, from there to Chairman of Local Government Council, then board Director, Adviser to the Governor, State Chairman of a political party and minister for six years and three months, which has never happened in the history of this country. You understand that God has deposited a lot of knowledge in me and that is what I want to deposit in Delta State and there is no aspirant that is more qualified and experienced than Elder Godsday Peter Orubebe.”

Orubebe stressed further that,”I think first today we love to appreciate god for making this day possible. This is the God’s day. It is day that I have been looking forward to see. It is a day to start a journey to occupy the Government House of Delta State.

“Over the years, in the past seven years and half or there about, we have a governor that has done very well. And I am coming to take over from him to add value to what he has also done in the state. I want to re-engineer and orientation in delta state   to bring to bear in Delta state, that a Delta state of my dream is a Delta State where anybody can become a leader, can become many things so long as you rely fully on God.
