PORT HARCOURT— Senator Lee Maeba has announced his intention to contest Rivers State governorship election in 2015.

Maeba, who represented Rivers South-East senatorial district in the Senate on the platform of Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, said he was going to tackle the problem of housing confronting the state, noting that he would also develop more cities in the state.

He said: “My blueprint has addressed the problem of housing in the state. Within four years, my administration will embark on a housing programme that will put an end to the problem of housing in the state. The truth is that the government has failed the people in the provision of affordable houses. If voted into power, our administration will provide affordable houses for the people.”

The former senator, who condemned violence in politics, said as senator, he initiated the local content bill that was later passed into law.

He added: “I, Senator Maeba, endorse politics without bitterness as propounded by the late Waziri Ibrahim. My concern is to help the youths attain their potentials. I have never bought a pistol or any other arm or ammunition for any youth.”
