2 injured, as NOUN students protest in Abuja

By Laide Akinboade

ABUJA—Students of National Open University, NOUN, yesterday, demonstrated in one of their study centres at Public Service Institute, Km 30, Abuja-Kubwa Expressway.

The protest, according to the students, was due to lack of proper arrangement, low internet network and inability to conduct exams.

The students complained of lack of information from the staff and management of NOUN or explanation as to why they could not conduct the exams that was earlier scheduled for Thursday.

One of the students, Mr. Austin Oble, said the manner they were all treated by the management of NOUN was annoying.

He said: “One of the reasons I decided to register with NOUN was because I believed it would give me time to do other things and I will be able to study at my own pace.

“I paid N78,000 as a first year student of Department of Criminology. We are supposed to start exams today.

“When we got here, there were no proper arrangements. Students were rushing to get inside the hall and two of my fellow students were seriously injured.”
