One hundred and eighty golfers will feature in this year’s Southern Sun Ikoyi golf tournament billed to hold November 15 at the  Ikoyi Club 1938 golf course.

Addressing the  media, the deputy General Manager of Southern Sun Ikoyi Hotel, Cliff Shiridzynodia said the tournament which started with 80 golfers in the first edition, has grown to become one of the most anticipated events in Nigeria’s sporting calendar.

“The tournament has has experienced astronomical growth as we have over 180 golfers vying for honours,” he said.

Captain of Ikoyi Club 1938 Golf Section, Teddy Iwere assured that the club was ready for the event which would feature both male and female golfers.

“We are ready to ensure the event ends in good time for the players.”

A 2014 Toyota Corolla made possible by Mandilas Motors has been put at stake for a hole-in-one winner. Organisers said similar prizes in the past two editions had remained intact as no winners emerged in that category.

There are other juicy prizes for winners in various other categories. Some of the sponsors include Kenya Airways, South African Airways, Nigeria Bottling Company, G4S, Aviator Travel & Tours Limited among others.
