ABEOKUTA—Residents of Ipokia, a border town in Ipokia Local Government Area of Ogun State, yesterday, told the state governor, Senator Ibikunle Amosun that lack of protective materials against the deadly Ebola Virus Disease, EVD, has made them vulnerable to the deadly disease.
The residents, however, called on the governor to equip their hospitals with protective gadgets and consumables against the EVD because of their closeness to the Republic of Benin.
Ipokia is a town by the Nigeria and Republic of Benin border.
Chairman of the border council area, Isiaka Aderounmu, appealed to the governor, who was in Ipokia in continuation of his project assessment and monitoring tour, to provide necessary medical materials for them because they are vulnerable.
“We urgently need the state government’s quick and decisive intervention in respect of Ebola Virus Disease in view of our peculiar proximity to neighbouring Benin Republic which make our people quite vulnerable to the killer disease which has no cure yet,” he said.
