LAGOS — The Acting Inspector-General of Police, Mr Suleiman Abba, has ordered  investigation into a case of alleged threat to life, harassment, intimidation, unlawful possession of arms and armed brigandage reported against a group of people in Ikorodu area of Lagos State.

Abba gave the order following a petition by the Mosenne Chieftaincy Family of Ikorodu, through their counsel, Mr Tunji Busari, alleging that a group of people attacked Mr. Taofiq Mosenne and some members of the family on May 12, 2004 while conducting routine check on the family land.

It said: “They were surprised when they were way-laid by these unknown men carrying assorted rifles and cudgels, cutlasses  and local charms. Our clients fled for their lives.”
Detectives from the Monitoring Unit of the Office of the IG Abuja, last week reportedly detained four suspects in connection with the incident, while investigation continued on the matter.

Meanwhile, the Mosenne Chieftaincy family members have gone before a Lagos High Court sitting in Ikorodu, praying the court to grant them statutory rights of occupancy in respect of the entire large tract of land situated at Oju-Ogbe on Beach Road, Ikorodu, Lagos State, covered the composite plan No. LA/1496/85, and an order granting beneficial owner of the land to them.

Claimants in the suit are Chief Adebayo Olomo (Olootu), Mr. Olukayode Olomo, Mr. Biodun Lambo, Chief Wasiu  Sekoni, Mrs Raliat Shogbamu, Otunba Tajudeen Adelaja, Mrs. Sunkanmi Arepo, while the defendant is the Sholebo family.
