Sultan urges leaders to speak the truth

Sokoto –  The Sultan of Sokoto, Alhaji Sa’ad Abubakar III, on Friday called on all leaders to harbour no fear in speaking out the truth.

The sultan was speaking when he received former Head of State, retired Gen. Muhammadu Buhari in his palace in Sokoto.

Abubakar said ” traditional rulers are always close to the people in all respect, we feel more pain than any other person on the killings of innocent souls in our society.”

He said we had shouldered our responsibility by informing the appropriate quarters on the killings, especially in the northern parts of the country.

Abubakar also called on the people to support leaders that worked for the development of the society.

He said, “this will surely encourage the leaders to have more confidence in ruling the society.”

The sultan urged the leaders to have the fear of God in conducting all their activities.

He also thanked the former head of state for the visit, and prayed for all Nigerians to live in peace and have good health.

Speaking earlier, Buhari commended the sultan for his fatherly leadership and for his sustained efforts to ensure the unity of Nigeria.

He thanked the state government for the executing projects that touched on the lives of all the people and their needs.

Earlier speaking, Sokoto State Governor, Alhaji Aliyu Wamakko, commended Buhari for the visit, saying, his government is always welcoming people like him.

Wamakko added that, ” our hope is for the country to maintain peace and stability for the good of our people.”
