UMUAHIA—ABIA State governor, Chief Theodore Orji, has flagged off the new 64-page Nigeria International E-passport in the state.

Performing the ceremony at the Nigeria Immigration Service office, Umuahia, Governor Orji congratulated the Nigeria Immigration Service for the innovation.
Orji, who received the new passport with his wife, Mercy, said the old 32-page international passport was not accommodating enough for frequent travellers who had to frequent passport offices for renewal.

The new 64-page passport with security features to track someone, according to him, is accommodating and in line with modern, international standards.
The governor charged the Nigerian Immigration Service to continue with its good job, especially controlling the movement of foreigners into the country.

In her remarks, Comptroller of Nigerian Immigration Service, Abia State command, Mrs. Anthonia Opara, explained that the old 32-page international passport is yet to be phased out, saying it was still in use.
According to her, the new passport is designed to forestall theft and accommodate frequent travellers.
