A former Delta State governorship aspirant on the platform of Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, Chief Sunny Onuesoke, has commended the Senate for suspending the controversial allocation of the new polling units by the Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC.
Onuesoke suggested in Calabar, Cross River State, that a general census should be held to ascertain the true population of the country instead of arbitrary allocation of polling units.
Onuesoke, who also is the Director of Network for Good Governance, N4GG, said: “When a general census is conducted, it will enable INEC to know the new polling units that will reflect the true population of the different regions that make up Nigeria.
“The imbalance in the new polling units which favoured the North with 22,000 polling units against South, 12,000, is not acceptable.”
