Calabar – A former Flying Eagles Coach, John Obuh, on Monday urged football fans not to write off the Super Eagles in the ongoing African Nations qualifying matches despite the loss to Congo.
The Nigeria lost at home to Congo 2-3 in an African Nations cup qualifying match.
Obuh in Calabar said that though the Eagles lost the match, they still had chances of qualifying for the main tournament scheduled for Morocco in 2015.
“I do not know why Nigerians do not believe that such defeats could be possible.
“Whenever you are there as an African champion that is when your body will become open for any defeat, If you do not really work very hard for that,’’ he said.
Obuh said that the Eagles could still qualify from their group if they raise their game.
“The players should raise their heads up. Let them not look at what has happened in the last game.
“Let them make sure that from the blast of the whistle they start looking for the victory and while looking for the victory they should avoid cards,’’ he said.
Obuh, the Manager of Rangers FC of Enugu, said that the eagles had potential to win South Africa when they clash on Sept. 10 in Cape Town. (NAN)
